Not that you need to care about any of this story stuff.
In both the seven-level solo/co-op campaign and the single-player-only combat training mode where you fight dozens of quickie one-off battles, you go up against the evil General Morden's regular troops plus his new cadre of future soldiers wearing helmets with antennas.
As in the rest of the franchise going back to its debut on the NeoGeo in 1996, the action is all about running and gunning. If you know what you're getting, Metal Slug XX can be a hell of a ride.
Ralf from the Ikari Warriors and King of Fighters series rears his bandanna-wearing head in Metal Slug XX.
And while the action is insanely intense and boasts a great co-op mode, like all good side-scrollers that trace their family trees back to the 1990s, the game is very short and the price is awfully high at 1,200 points. This Xbox Live Arcade addition to the venerable series of 2D side-scrolling shooters is actually a retread of Metal Slug 7, released for the Nintendo DS at the end of 2008, so be aware that you might have played this game before. Add SNK Playmore to the list of groups trying to save the planet through salvaging, although what the developer is doing with Metal Slug XX is far from admirable. 1/10 for me is when the game is unplayable, and - for me - this game isn't playable at all.Recycling isn't just for environmentalists anymore. btw: I know there is a lot of biased reviews finished with 1/10 score. Didn't finish even first game out of seven.
**** Do we play different games? I payed the full price and I will not play it. It makes the game unplayable! There is a review of this game (8/10) with bottom line "controls are responsive".
In game when accuracy is everything it ruins not even the experience. Like 1,5s lag between pressing a jump and jumping. When I first sat to this collection, I lost four continues on first 3 stages of first game though. Knew every hidden secret, and every possibility to earn even more points. I expected arcade experience, so the level I've got like 15 years ago on my Pentium 200. I wasn't expect a remaster, with 3D graphics, new special effects or even a special content. I wasn't expect a remaster, with 3D graphics, new special effects Ok, I feel cheated. If you are looking to buy Metal Slug on PS4, I would not recommend Metal Slug Anthology … Expand
Overall, Metal Slug Anthology PS4 is a very big disappointed and needs to either be updated to have very minimal input lag or completely remade so it can look more modern(The graphics in-game game are fine as they are old school arcade games). Wouldn't it have been nice to see wide screen support and possibly online play. Another complaint i will make is that this a port from the PS2 and not a remake. For needing to constantly dodge bullets and hazards it can become very frustrating when you just hit a bullet because of the input lag. Starting the first mission i was so disappointed when moving, shooting, throwing grenades e.t.c every move you make is delayed by a big input lag.
When starting up any Metal Slug game I noticed that the Neo-Geo boot up was slower than what it is meant to be. I will say the intro gave me child hood vibes and was excited to get straight into the action. Being a hardcore Metal Slug gamer I can personally say that this is a pathetic port to come over from PS2 to PS4. Being a hardcore Metal Slug gamer I can personally say that this is a pathetic port to come over from I tried really hard to like this game.
